ADMX Migrator Whitespace Issue
Hello there Technet community
I've created several ADM files and intended to migrate said files to ADMX format. The conversion is successful but I am left with one small side affect.
Once I open GPEDIT and begin configuring the ADMX files I find a chunk of white space before I can enter any values. This will then carry across to the registry if applied via GPO. I have reviewed the original ADM files and was unable to find any cause. I also reviewed the converted ADMX file and once again everything appeared as it should. I intend to roll these files out to network administrators and fear it will cause many issues if left in it's current state.
I'd be eternally grateful if someone with past experience of this was able to assist.
If you require any further information please let me know and I'll happily oblige.
Thank you,
Jack Williams

AD RMS Standalone Installation for SharePoint 2013
Hi,
I would want to install AD RMS for SharePoint 2013 on a standalone server. Is that possible to have that? Because I want to install on dev environment first before we go to production. Can anyone please point an article on step by step installation of AD RMS for SharePoint. I tried to install from the articles whatever I got, but I was not successful. Well, Installation shows successful but when I open AD RMS, it cannot connect to cluster or the web site.
Can you please help me out pointing some good articles?
Thanks, Hitchs
Export software base CSP key
I tried to export the software base CPS key in our OLD AD RMS 2008 using this steps (Below). I'm not sure i executed this command correctly. here's the steps i made.
1. Login to AD RMS Web server
2. open command prompt run as Administrator'
3. Type cd %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727, and then press ENTER.
4. aspnet_regiis.exe –px _DRMS:MS-GUID:{47190157-bacd-4c82-bfdd-a2ee21b6654432} privatekey.xml -pri
Results: Invalid command.
I tried to modify this command again:
aspnet_regiis.exe –px "keycontainername" privatekey.xml -pri
results: No error return. just displayed the aspnet_regiis.exe help
Please let me know the correct syntax on how to export and import the software base cps. Thank you...
To export the RMS private key from a software-based CSPLog on to the RMS server that has the RMS private key installed.
Click Start, and then click Command Prompt.
Type cd %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727, and then press ENTER.
Type aspnet_regiis.exe –px “keycontainername” privatekey.xml –pri, wherekeycontainername is the key container name that you retrieved from the procedure named “To retrieve the private key container name.”
Copy privatekey.xml to the server that will be joined to the RMS cluster.

No Logged on Office Users are configured for IRM

I have googled and taken a look at all of the options out there and everything seems to be configured correctly.

Some weird behaviors with AD RMS
I spotted some weird behaviors in my Windows 2012 RMS setup:
1. When opening an expired encrypted document in Outlook 2011(Macbook), it shows "IRM cannot start because the system clock has been changed"
2. Encrypted email can't be previewed if user uses Outlook in RDS server
3. "Permission will expire within 60 days" although I set the expiration to tomorrow
Can I know are they default behaviors? Or its due to my wrong configuration?

Connection with the specified AD RMS cluster could not be established
Hello Friends,
I am doing AD RMS practical in a lab environment and facing issue in the server where I installed the RMS role which is other than the domain controller. The user I have created to install the role is a member of Enterprise admin group and also the local admin group as mentioned in the Microsoft's step by step guide here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753531(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_S1 though I am using 2008 R2 for the practical.
When I logged in to the computer (Other than DC) to install the role then after launching the server manager, I got this message "Windows can't access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item
C:\windows\system32\ServerManager.msc though after clicking on Ok it appeared and I was able to install the role.
After the installation I got the message installation succeeded with errors as shown below though I did use a separate service account during installation and have already created a FQDN for RMS server say rms.rmspractical.com:
I did log off and log on but even after a restart do not get a running RMS role and get this message
AD RMS offline content
As per this link http://blogs.technet.com/b/rms/archive/2012/04/16/accessing-protected-content-offline-and-content-pre-licensing.aspx we can access and protect the content offiline. However if i bring the RMS server down users are not able to protect new documents. Also if a user tries to access a protected document which he has not opened earlier it does not open. I have tried this with both checking and unchecking the option "require a new license every time content is consumed". Can you please clarify this point. Protected Documents already accessed by users work while RMS is down.
Issue opening protected excel document in Excel 2013
We recently installed Office 2013 on a machine and now they can't open protected excel documents. I haven't been able to find anything.
I found this online, but it isn't correlated. I still removed the folder.
I got this message from Office trying to open a protected mail, what should I do? "This content could not be accessed using your current credentials. Do you want to use your Microsoft account to access this content?"
Close Office and run this command: rd /q /s "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MSIPC"
AD RMS Client for Windows Server 2012
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for AD RMS Client (MSIPC.DLL) which can be applied to Windows Server 2012. I have tried to install Windows RMS Client Service Pack 2 but it doesn't support. I'm having an error that says "The required Active Directory Rights Management Service Client MSIPC.DLL is present but could not be configured properly. IRM will not work until the client is configured properly". So I think something needs to be installed in my client before connecting and using IRM protector.
Update: I have completely installed AD RMS Client 2.0 but still get the error above.

Has anyone encountered the same error? I really appreciate you helps.
