Office Registry Settings for Office 2013 for use with ADRMS

We had ADRMS running with Office 2010 on Windows 7, between a few divisions using Trusted Publishing Domains (TPD), this made available by using a few registry changes for use in Office 2010 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772637(v=ws.10).aspx

LicenseServerRedirection: Redirect to different servers for IRM licensing. Used in the case where Trusted Publishing Domains are used so an AD RMS cluster issues use licenses against publishing licenses issued by another cluster.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\DRM\LicenseServerRedirection REG_SZ:http://url.to.old.licensing.server/_wmcs/licensing Value:http://url.to.new.licensing.server/_wmcs/licensing

We are now in the process of upgrading to Office 2013, and the scenario listed above is not working, does anyone know of the relevant registry changes to make (if there is any) to make this available for use?

It is not listed in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179103(v=office.15).aspx and I have tried

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\DRM\LicenseServerRedirection

  REG_SZ:  http://url.to.old.licensing.server/_wmcs/licensing
  Value: http://url.to.new.licensing.server/_wmcs/licensing

and still no luck.... any advice?

Office 2013 not downloading templates from AD RMS

Hi,

Im am using AD RMS onsatlled on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and users are using windows 7 enterprise, office 2007 and office 2010. They can see right policy template with downloaded to outlook 2007 and outlook 2010.
But now I have installed office 2013 pro. plus and added new admx files to new gpo for office 2013 also enabled this  policy "Enter Permission Policy Default Server for Quick Access Toolbar" and writing in the policy\\rmsservername\templates_path But I cant receiving ad rms templates from my outlook?
Is server 2008 r2 sp1 ad rms compatible with office 2013 or am I have to install server 2012 ad rms for office 2013?
How can I fix this problem?

RMS Cluster Location

Hi Team

We are planning to install RMS and I am making some tests before, but now i have an important question.

Our Domain is 2003 and we are planning to move to 2012 R2 in a year or two because of some apps incompatibility with schema changes, meanwhile we started to create another Domain that will provide services like Exc2013 and Lync2013 to our users, that domain has two ways trust configured with "Users Domain".

As U can see we have a "Services Domain" and a "Users Domain" making some research I think I should install RMS (Server 2012 R2) in the "Users Domain" because of users and group membership and global catalog, is it the best way?

Could you please give some advice?

User Profile Error 1521

Hello I work as an IT for an aquarium and here lately I have been getting an error about not being able to log in to my roaming profile and it is gonna attempt to log in to my local. Here is the error in Event Viewer

When I am using my work laptop this is not a problem because I have a local profile but as I was setting up a co workers new laptop and I attempted to log into my domain profile it logged me into a temporary profile since there was no local profile and I am unable to install or modify anything to set this laptop up. Can i remove the account which i used to install AD RMS server from local administrator group on AD RMS Server

I used my own account to run installation for AD RMS. I used another service account while configuring AD RMS.Now everything is working. Can i remove my own account from the local administrator group on AD RMS server and Enterprise admin group. My account will be a normal user account once i do that. I tried removing my account from local admin group on AD RMS server and i was getting an error not able to recover data on server manager.Also i was not able to see the templates on the shared folder via any user pc. Anyone has any idea on this? Please help asap.

Office 2013 Rights Management Services??

I am trying to make a powerpoint file I have created in Office 2013 (on Windows 7 64 bit) a read-only file so that presenters cannot change content, but can still view and present the file normally. 

This was very easy to do with previous versions of Office, but in 2013 I am asked to sign in to "Rights Management Services" using my live ID. I have no problem with that, but it has not worked for me yet - I get the following error:

Any advice or help would be much appreciated!

A couple notes: I can still encrypt with a password, but this would not allow presenters to open, view and present the file without the password.

Is there a way to obtain a list of all AD RMS Users? I have looked and cannot find anything. The built in reporting is VERY limited. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RMS auto encryption for windows 7

Hi :)

the DAC technology that is compatible with windows 8 works on auto classifying files for the RMS to encrypt the (confidential files for example), however in my organization we are using windows 7, is there anyway for us to automatically encrypt files with RMS without the need of manual encryption ?? or can i classify files as confidential without the need of classifying them manually ??

Specific AD RMS Templates show on Office 2010

Hi,

I've just configured AD RMS running W2012R2.

All Template is showing in all office applications even that templates is for email (i.e. Do not reply - only can forward) or documents (i.e. view and print - only can view and print).

I want to specific a template that shows on office application. in example i want to show only "Do not reply" template on Outlook and only "view and print" Template on Word. I use Microsoft Office 2010 SP2

Can i do that? if there is unable, can you tell me why?

Is it possible to protect documents with 2008 \ 2012 R2 AD RMS on Workgroup Machines \ another domain machines?

Hi Experts,

I have scenario where I have TWO 2008 R2 AD forests with cross forest trust and also I have some workgroup Win7 Machines.

I wanted to deploy AD RMS in any one forest (Say Forest A), as forced by customer

Is it possible that My forest B users can protect documents with AD RMS in Forest (A)

OR

Is it possible that my workgroup computers can protect documents with AD RMS of Forest A? Can I use user credentials from forest A to protect documents on workgroup computer

OR

Lets take a scenario:

I create user in forest A with addition of email address of forest B user

I share this ID to respective forest B user, forest B user logged on to forest B computer

Now can forest B computers can protect documents with AD RMS from forest A by entering forest A user id \ password when RMS prompts for authentication?

How to open a protected document after on premises adrms is decommissioned?

Hello,

I am planning to decommission the on premises ADRMS cluster completely and enable 365 based RMS (since migration is not possible),

I found an ADRMS decommission document, which suggests to enable the AD RMS decommissioning service and it will allow all protected document to be decrypted by anyone.

Can we go with a different approach, like after decommission can I use some tool or master key to decrypt these documents manually?

Hello,

I do have on premises ADRMS cluster (win 2008R2) and office 365 services. ( exch online, no hybrid

Users are unable to open protected e-mails when sent to dynamic DL's (365) groups
(same users are able to open protected e-mails when sent to them directly or via normal Dl's (AD based local dl's)

I can see TPD file needs to be imported to 365, is this the correct solution I should go with:

Hello AD RMS forum users,

We need to participate in a public tender which invloves an RMS (cluster) subsystem deployment across two Data Centers of a public organization  (DCA, DC B). We offer AD RMS solution in our proposal, so, I would appreciate if I could have your  clarifications on the following bullet points:

1) The public organization has already AD 2003 forest/domain level established, along with Tivoli Identity Manager (TIM) & Tivoli Access Manager (TAM) & Tivoli FIM for federation between LDAP authorities (IBM LDAP & Microsoft AD). How AD RMS integrates with IBM Tivoli TIM/TAM? Is IBM Tivoli FIM (Federated Identity Manager) enough or there is a need for another MS component to be deployed for federation (like AD FS)?

2) Since we need to deploy 2 AD RMS servers in DC A and 1 AD RMS in DC B (total : 3) supporting around 400 RMS enabled clients, can you pls advise what is needed in terms of licensing?

Any advise will be much appreciated

AD RMS Standalone Installation for SharePoint 2013

Hi,

I would want to install AD RMS for SharePoint 2013 on a standalone server. Is that possible to have that? Because I want to install on dev environment first before we go to production.  Can anyone please point an article on step by step installation of AD RMS for SharePoint. I tried to install from the articles whatever I got, but I was not successful. Well, Installation shows successful but when I open AD RMS, it cannot connect to cluster or the web site.

Can you please help me out pointing some good articles?

.ppdf and Word docs blank

We have a client setup with RMS sharing application they have a RMS account. They can protect content and it opens ok for the recipient, but when they open protected content they received they are able to open but .ppdf files show a black screen.

Reuse of certificates

My understanding is that AD RMS uses a user certificate as part of the encryption process.

Can I reuse that certificate to (for example) sign email?  How would I get at it?

Permission groups

Hello,

I have a pretty basic question:

I'm trying to create two different user groups with different permissions. 

I can change permissions for individual users with no problem.

However, when I place the users in a group and then change the group permission policy it has no effect.

Does the user group need to have a specific property?
