DRM Folder not available in Windows Server 2008

  1. Click Start, type regedit.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

  2. Expand the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\DRM

    noteNote
    If DRM was not already created as a part of the key, you must create it manually. For Microsoft® Office 2003, the registry entry is as follows:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\DRM.

  3. Right-click DRM, click New, and then click Expandable String Value.

  4. In the Value name box, type AdminTemplatePath, and then press ENTER.

  5. Double-click the AdminTemplatePath registry value and type %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\DRM\Templates in the Value data box, and then click OK.

  6. After, restarting the machine,i can't found "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\DRM\Templates"Folder in machine

Plz help me resolve the issue.

AD RMS SDK 2.1 "The system cannot find the file specified"

I'm new at RMS and I'm developing an application to rms encrypt some documents.

I'm trying to get started with the interop example posted some time ago, but when I run the application, it fails with the following error:

InformationProtectionException was unhandled.

The system cannot find the file specified. HRESULT: 0x80070002

At no point it says which file it's trying to find. This is part of the code I'm trying to run:

SafeNativeMethods.IpcInitialize();
SafeNativeMethods.IpcGetTemplateList(null, true, true, false, true, null, null);

The initialization goes ok, but when I try to get the templates (or the issuers via SafeNativeMethods.IpcGetTemplateIssuerList), it throws the file not found exception.

Has anybody faced this issue? What am I doing wrong?

"Cannot verify user information at this time" .... Linked Mailbox .... Resource Forest

Hello,

I have the following scenario :

Forest A - Domain A - Logon Forest with UserA

Forest B - Domain B - Resource Forest with UserB (disabled), Linked Mailbox - ExternalAccount is UserA

I installed ADRMS in the resource forest and from OWA all is working fine.

Using a client (joined to Domain A), logon with UserA opening Outlook 2010 SP3, the client is unable to verify the user information. I created the SCP in the Domain A, added the RMS site to the Trusted Sites, No proxy.

But is still not working. Any suggestion?

The Domain Controllers and ADRMS server are Windows Server 2012 R2.

One Way trust between the two forest, to let the linked mailbox work smoothly.

Export software base CSP key

I tried to export the software base CPS key in our OLD AD RMS 2008 using this steps (Below). I'm not sure i executed this command correctly. here's the steps i made.

1. Login to AD RMS Web server

2. open command prompt run as Administrator'

3. Type cd %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727, and then press ENTER.

4. aspnet_regiis.exe –px _DRMS:MS-GUID:{47190157-bacd-4c82-bfdd-a2ee21b6654432} privatekey.xml -pri

Results: Invalid command.

I tried to modify this command again:

aspnet_regiis.exe –px "keycontainername" privatekey.xml -pri

results: No error return. just displayed the aspnet_regiis.exe help

Please let me know the correct syntax on how to export and import the software base cps.  Thank you...

To export the RMS private key from a software-based CSP

  1. Log on to the RMS server that has the RMS private key installed.

  2. Click Start, and then click Command Prompt.

  4. Type aspnet_regiis.exe –px “keycontainername” privatekey.xml –pri, wherekeycontainername is the key container name that you retrieved from the procedure named “To retrieve the private key container name.”

  5. Copy privatekey.xml to the server that will be joined to the RMS cluster.

please i'm trying to add ADRMS server with windows server 2012 R2 with our ADRMS 2008 R2 cluster. and it fails with the following error:

"The Client DLL version doesn't match with the one of the servers"

so i want to know is it supported to add  RMS 2012 R2 server to RMS 2008 R2 Cluster

Selecting run as admin doesnt give elevated permissions

I have run into an issue on two users in my active directory domain.  Whenever I right click and choose run as admin it does not prompt for credentials and the users logged in do not have admin rights.  It doesn't prompt for credentials and doesn't open the dialog asking if the program can make changes.  It will start whatever it is but not with elevated permissions.  The weird part is that this happened on their accounts in Windows XP and when I upgraded them to Win 7 it still happens.  For installing I usually end up dragging whatever the application is to the local disk and doing a runas command but it is inconvenient and doesn't work for existing programs.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks

How can one find out who has applied policy template on a document

We are using AD RMS (on premise) in our domain. When a user restricts access to some document and another user opens it, he gets a message, that he has insufficient rights and the message also points where one should ask for permissions (shows the email address of the person, who has applied the restrictions). Therefor one can find out who was the original "restrictor". We also have policy template on the server, which grants all rights to the document (except for full control). If someone applies this policy to the document, then there is no indication about who was the restrictor. Wonder is is possible to find out who has applied the policy template?

I have followed couple of articles on AD RMS (On premise) on Technet but still unable to get clear idea on below concerns....Please help me in clearing the doubts.

1) AD RMS 2012 :- Which edition of Sharepoint Server 2013 is spported.
Can it support Office Standard 2013 edition on Sharepoint Server for all the features....or which will be missed out.

2) For RMS to work completely on Desktop machines which verison of Office like 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003 is required & which edition like Standard or Professional.

Is there a way to configure RMS for FBA SharePoint 2010

Hi All,

I have an FBA setup type of SharePoint site. I am looking for ways to restrict document downloads to users with read access but seems its not going to work since read permissions essentially allows download or share. The next option I see after some more googling is to implement IRM. 

All I see on IRM/RMS seems to be based off AD authenticated users, hence my question.

So, is there a way to give users authenticated using forms login view, read but no download or share? And if IRM is the only way, how can it be used with a site line mine?

Hello

currently I have the following infrastructure

Windows RMS SP1 Based on Windows Server 2003 SP1 x86 and connected to SQL Server 2000

and the RMS have hundreds of files ecrypted using RMS

I need to migrate this RMS server to ADRMS Windows Server 2012 R2 and using SQL server 2012

so can you guide me with the best practice to do this

RMS protected XPS document can't be opened when no MS Office is installed

We need to distribute documents to our external dealers who are using Microsoft Accounts, as their pc's are not members of our domain (and may not be member of any domain) and they have no user accounts in our domain.

Our AD RMS setup handles this without any problems when distributing Word documents.
However, we are distributing XPS documents as the dealers may not have MS Office installed.

To emulate that environment, I have set up a test environment with client pc's outside our domain and network, connected to the internet and installed with Windows 7 and 8.1 and nothing else, with all updates to date.

When trying to open a XPS document on these machines, XPS Viewer returns the error:
"Unable to open this protected document. The XPS Viewer cannot activate any rights management accounts on this machine."

My question is: Which additional steps do the dealers need to take to be able to read the RMS-protected XPS files on a newly installed Windows 7 or 8.1 pc?

Other observations:

After I install MS Word on a machine in my test environment, the XPS Viewer still has the same behavior as described above.
However, after I have used Word at least once to open a RMS protected Word document, XPS Viewer can successfully open XPS protected documents.

So it seems XPS Viewer is not doing the same automatic initialization of RMS, as MS Word is doing.

I need to describe the needed steps so they can easily be made by an end user.

I am looking for an EQUIVALENT to the program ForensiT Profwiz. I have been using this program primary for switching computers on to a domain to implement active directory. Does anyone know of a program that works for Mac To move it on to a windows domain? without having to do it manually on all of the macs?

Installing vSpace6 software

Hello. I am trying to install a software that will enable me to setup a Windows 7 host station operated by the vSpace N-Computing setup. I am currently at an obstacle that is prohibiting me from installing the software and extracting certain files from the desired machine's documents. I have tried installing on both the "admin" and "administrator" accounts and I have seen a few different error messages. Some of them include "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." and also "Error: Couldn't retrieve the elevation right of the current process taken. " The first error appears whenever I wish to open a documents folder and the second error appears when I try to extract files from  Vspace application's run attempt.  I hope this information provides enough feedback. Thanks a ton!!!

expert in excel help

Would appreciate if someone can help me to open a protected excel sheet,

every time i open the excel sheet a pop up window appear " press ok to close the workbook" and i cant click anywhere else except to hit ok on the pop up window, accordingly this will close the excel sheet, i tried to his Alt+F11 to open the VBA which worked but without being able to click anywhere.

would anyone help me on how to by pass this issue

RMS protected email can not be opened from a specific user

I have a user that when they send a RMS protected email, no one can open it. It stays as the attached .rpmsg file.  I can receive rms protected email from other users and open them with no problems using the same exact template.  The same issue occurs with any email account set up in Outlook on the users computer. Not sure on how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.
