Group permissions to a shared folder

Hi,

   I created a new shared folder and also a new security group-global to which i added few users. The shared folder had subfolders and files, for which i had inherited permissions from this shared folders making this as a parent folder. I also gave the new Security Group-Global MODIFY access to this shared folder.

I created this security group in ADC and the shared folder on my application server.

The problem what i am facing is, inspite of providing MODIFY access to this shared folder, the users are still getting READ-ONLY access.

Can ADRMS encrypt MS Outlook Calendar appointments / invites?

We are using ADRMS and regularly encrypt email and email attachments. But we also have a need to encrypt calendar invites. For example a doctor sending another doctor a calendar invite to discuss patient xyz heart condition which would make that invite contain PHI and PII. I don’t think ADRMS has this ability to encrypt the calendar invite but I hope I am just missing something. Our environment is using Exchange 2003 and 2007 and just recently went to Ad RMS from RMS both are on premises installations. Does Microsoft have any plans to include the ability to encrypt calendar invites?

Hi

Few queries about AD RMS , really appreciate if somebody help me on this

When I try to add a file classification [using 2012 R2 FCI] to RMS protected files , it fails ..if I keep the same file as not AD RMS protected , the classification rule work and apply the classification..Could I know why it fails , I already enabled& added my file server into RMS super users group...

I created a file management task to apply RMS template to classified files and it work perfectly , but again if the file is already applied with a different AD RMS template, then my management task is not changing that template to what I specified in the task

In TUD environment , how the client in forest1 know about the licensing server in forest2 which issued the license to author who is located in the forest2 ? pls give me some URL/info about AD RMS client discovery in TUD env

How much is ADRMS production certificates fee?

I two questions for the requesting a production certificate:

1. How much is the production certificate fee?

2. Can I change the application name after requesting a production certificate? For example, currently my application name (in pre-production) is test.exe. But it is not final name. Do I need to finalize the application name before requesting a production certificate.

Please help.

2012R2 with Office 2010 on windows 7

I have a 2003 domain running windows 7 desktops. Office 2010 is installed on each desktop.  I have installed a 2012R2 server with AD RMS.

The issue I have is that the client takes a very long time to look up rights and url settings the first time say word is started and permissions applied. After the details have been cached then word works fine, however until this it sometimes freezes and becomes unresponsive for a few minutes.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Using Certificate Based Authentication w/AD-RMS + Sharepoint 2013

We have a Sharepoint Site setup that integrates with Active Directory and Rights Management Services to provide an IRM protected document repo.  Currently we use standard user/password authentication for login to sharepoint.  Is it possible to use certificates issued by active directory to authenticate users (passwordless) in an environment where we implement RMS/IRM?

Hello,

I'm getting the error I've pasted below after installation of AD RMS. I'm in a domain environment: mailtask.com. The service user for RMS has the appropriate rights. I also have AD Certificate Services installed. Furthermore, the AD RMS server has the appropriate certificate in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store.

I don't have an option to change the SCP because I can't add the RMS cluster.

Anyone know what's causing this? All help is greatly appreciated.

This is the error:

Active Directory Rights Management Services: Installation succeeded with errors
   Error: Attempt to configure Active Directory Rights Management Server failed.  The AD RMS installation could not determine the certificate hierarchy. Ask credential prompt when I open https://xxx/_wmcs/certification/certification.asmx

on the ad rms server, I can open https://xxx/_wmcs/certification/certification.asmx without the credential prompt.

but when logon ad rms client, it always ask credential prompt and cannot log in even I put the correct user name & pw.

by the way, I added it on the ie local intranet; all my computers are windows 2008 R2 enterprise sp1.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I found there is a note in it:

In this step-by-step guide, when a user restricts permissions on a document or attempts to open a restricted document, a warning appears that informs you that the certificate issuer for the AD RMS Web site is unknown or untrusted. This warning results from using a self-signed certificate instead of a certificate issued by a recognized certification authority. When you receive this warning, click Yes to continue.

When I click Yes, it always ask me to enter credential, but I cannot login even I enter any user name& password.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

AD RMS Client for Windows Server 2012

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for AD RMS Client (MSIPC.DLL) which can be applied to Windows Server 2012. I have tried to install Windows RMS Client Service Pack 2 but it doesn't support. I'm having an error that says "The required Active Directory Rights Management Service Client MSIPC.DLL is present but could not be configured properly. IRM will not work until the client is configured properly". So I think something needs to be installed in my client before connecting and using IRM protector.

Update: I have completely installed AD RMS Client 2.0 but still get the error above.

How to set up Office in pre-production environment

I have deployed AD RMS server and have set both server and client in pre-production environment, and the IPCNotepad(http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/IPCNotepad-Sample-f67dae80)running normally. Now I'm trying to set up Office 2010 in pre-production development environment. I have searched out a page about this:

Problem installing AD RMS

Hi,

I'm trying to install AD RMS on Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2, but it failed with the error: ad rms failed because of invalid configuration settings (in 2012 R2). I did try many times with all steps followed, created services accounts, added in domain admin, and enterprise admin group (it is a test environment), but always same error.

Is there any place where I can see any error generated?

I installed Active directory and add all the required user;s . then i changed the computer name .

after doing this suddenly i realized that administrator don;t have rights to change or modify group policy admin can;t add other user to a group policy object 

i tried a lot but failed at last

Distribute RM Templates based on groups of users or OU

Hi,

We're distributing templates to the users. However, since there are a lot of templates, is it possible to distribute them based on department, OU, or any other way, so users can see only templates they need.

Old AD RMS template still displayed in OWA which were already deleted

Hi,

Currently, I'm having a problem where a deleted template still can be view & select when trying to apply RMS protection. I have checked the template distribution folder & run the Get-RMSTemplate to see whether the template is presented or not (which is not) 



As you can see from the picture above. I have already disabled the rms, still we can see the template. Some of the template listed above have been already deleted & some just come pop in out of no where. Please, i really need some help here. Thanks in advance

what is the support matrix for windows 2012 R2 ADRMS SQL Servers. is it supported SQL 2012 SP1 . as i found, windows 2012 ADRMS will support SQL 2012 ( not SP1 ), but i am planning to deploy windows 2012 R2 ADRMS and couldn't find support matrix for SQL .

RMS protected email can not be opened from a specific user

I have a user that when they send a RMS protected email, no one can open it. It stays as the attached .rpmsg file.  I can receive rms protected email from other users and open them with no problems using the same exact template.  The same issue occurs with any email account set up in Outlook on the users computer. Not sure on how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

What's the impact to the users when AD RMS DB goes down

I did a quick test for the impacts to user when AD RMS DB goes down:

if the unread email sent before DB goes down, it is readable

if the unread email sent after DB goes down, it is unreadable

I understood that Exchange pre-licensing won't work when DB goes down, can user connect to RMS directly to grab the license since RMS server is still up?

I have 2 WFE servers, 2 APP servers, one AD RMS.

Installed setup_msipc_x64.exe on each WFE.

The RMS ssl is installed into WFEs (local machine / trusted root certification auth) and WFEs SSL into RMS server.

Cannot open docs from protected libraries, receiving “This content could not be accessed using your current credentials”, and I'm getting this error in the log DB
